Brad Thomas Birchett
is a mixed media artist who is involved in a variety
of art making approaches including painting, photography,
audio, bio-art, and environmental intervention and
installation. His most recent exhibition examines
community gentrification and the changing locale
as he displays works of art as installation, suggesting
that art objects represent “a trigger for
understanding the experience that is art.”
Brad has been a professional artist for almost 20
years and has a diverse background in computer graphic
design, technical illustration, commercial set design,
architectural restoration, art installation, academics,
and fine art.
Brad studied art both at V.C.U. in Richmond, Virginia
and Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia where
he received a B.S. degree. He received his M.F.A.
in Visual Arts degree from Vermont College in Montpelier,
Vermont. He has shown his work regionally, in New
York City, and Korea. Brad has been an Artist Board
Member of 1708 Gallery since 1999.
