Tina Rice had studied photography
for a brief period at Arizona State University in
the early 1980's. She then traveled extensively throughout
the United States living in Oregon, Florida, Vermont,
Montana and currently resides in Connecticut. She
resumed her education in 1995 and graduated with her
BA in Graphic/Information Design from CCSU in 1999.
Something was missing from her life and that something
was creative expression so after graduating and working
in the design industry for a couple of years she decided
to continue her education by attaining her MFA at
Vermont College in 2005.
Tina is currently teaching Digital
Imaging at Central Connecticut State University and
works full-time as a web site designer/developer at
Netplex. Her latest project is a colaborative effort
with Eleanor Thornton, Area 121, an outdoor
labyrinth of stones and surrounding elements in Scotland,
CT.
Her Work: Tina has worked in the graphic
design industry since 1998 creating everything from
printed materials to web sites.
As an artist Tina creates themes,
stories that tell not only about herself but touch
on our cultures conditions as well—various addictions,
institutional practices, and power struggles—by
creating installation art, digital collage and photography.
She considesr herself a digital artist and uses the
computer as a tool—her paintbrush—to enhance
her environments: animated text, morphing of images,
editing sound, and creating projection.
