Sharon hails from
a military family that has lived all over the globe.
Born in Kansas, she has lived in 8 different states,
and 3 European countries . She received her BFA
and MA from Kansas University, and an MFA from
Vermont College. She has taught in private schools,
European and American Universities and art centers.
She now teaches at Clark College and at her studio
close to her children and grandchildren in Vancouver,
WA.
Sharon's work evolves
around her travels, narrative painting, gardens,
and her interest in Celtic Mythology. Her paintings
have a touch of the mysterious and evoke spiritual
qualities found in landscape and the magic of the
Celtic folklore. By extension, she is involved
in ecological art programs, and in preserving the
natural beauty of the planet through good stewardship.
She was greatly influenced by her Scottish Grandmother
who was a herbal healer and grannywoman.
Sharon
says: "When you
decide you'd like to learn to paint, you will likely
encounter the art myth that it takes talent to
paint. Don't believe it. The desire to learn to
paint and enthusiasm are what you need more than
anything else. All you need to know is what you
learned in Kindergarten!"
