Four Bowls is a mixed media/oil painting,
48"x48" done in 2007. Formally, it reflects my interest in pattern
and symmetry. The content of the painting conveys four questions
that spiritual devotees may ask themselves before passing, each
question a reflection of how one has lived life.
Pattern is an encaustic painting done in
April 2008 and is a small work measuring 12"x12". The pattern
itself is similar to the "spiral" which is a symbol of life.
The Shadows painting is an oil/mixed media work on four sheets of Arches paper. It includes a pattern design of shadows from trees falling along a walkway, traced onto the paper with additional images cut and pasted onto the surface. Fruit is a metaphor for the richness of life and is incorporated into the image as well. This work was also done in 2007-08.
